We've made it to September...and lost far too many icons last month. Rest In Peace to the voices and characters of my childhood.
Let's start with book stuff, Antecedents 7 did what the series has continued to do, a stable showing of loyalty from the fans. I'm a little sad to say with how things snowball in the series though that we're looking at either book8 or book 9 as the last of the series. From a business standpoint the series has been stable but never strong, but it's remained strong enough for me to be able to tell the full story I've wanted to tell.
I won't know if it's 8 or 9 though until I write book 8, which I've not started yet.
Currently we're looking at AR13 coming out in October.

I can say it was different, and we see the time skips I've said would be coming in the series. Not all the skips, but we begin to see them really pick up here as it takes far more time for aether to build for advancement up the tiers and ranks now.

At the moment though I'm writing HC6: Mock-War.
It's an interesting book to write as we have build up to the title happening, and then the actual mock-war. There's no million people a side for this mock-war, these are far more compact affairs. But they are geared for the lowest Ranks of mock-war so there aren't city breaking skills being used either.
I love Ben, Atropos, and Sadie. Their friends are just as fun to write though, especially the dynamic between Hanz and Dalia.
As for Audio:
We should be seeing AL7 audio coming out this month. Barring ACX or Audible giving us problems.
I'd been hoping to get a link for the blog, but it's not up yet so we've delayed the blog for naught.
I can say that Andie will be recording AR13 before the book officially releases. So that'll be amazing, as it'll mean it'll come out far sooner than normal after the eBook.
We also get to say that the audio for Deathless will be available on Soundbooth's app this month. I don't have a link for that yet either, sadly, but it's coming.
The Kickstarter is being fulfilled, audio and eBook have been shipped out, and the physical side of things are in the works.
For those wondering yes the eBook, audio, and paperback will be up on Amazon, but the sad news is they won't be there until next year. And when the eBook does hit it won't be on KU, as I'm not messing with having to meet their requirements for a book offered in other places. But you'll be able to grab it from the Zon in 2027.
I'm not going to Dragon Con this year, which I've said before, but I reiterate now.
I also haven't been asked to attend Author Nation in Las Vegas, so I'll likely be missing that too.
However this October 3rd is my 10-yearpublished anniversary.
I have something being worked on, it's not big, but it's special to me. I'll give more information about that next month.

not just your childhood, mine as well. the losses weigh heavy on thoseof us who know what it meant to actually care. i will miss AL when it ends, hell i still miss dungeon walkers, even if it was not profitable, it was orders of magnitude better than much of what i have read and/or written.
ReplyDeletei feel there are a few things that could be touched on as the series continues. one thing I'd like to see is dreams hauling a tank of serum to terra so they can be introduced to earth. i feel like there are many things maker can bring up to the other ai's and crew that could be useful from zander's earth. Many of those could be sci-fi for use in research but also military tech, classic movies, tv series, ect. honestly, I'm surprised star trek/wars, or alien wasn't assembled by maker and displayed given how many references there were, especially with sasquatch. one thing i want to point out, is a MAC is not a railgun. railguns use direct electricity to magnetize 2 rails and the armature forcing it from between them. the magnetic accelerator is more similar to a coilgun where electromagnets are used instead. However, this could be used with another concept for a main cannon as well. The armament would be limited but powerful and could be along the lines of an alpha strike against queens in space. Ping, i feel is becoming more of a sidestory than part of the main cast. she has potential but i feel like she's being left back, even with being made captain. perhaps since she's gotten experience, there could be a salvage mission or something similar. maybe they are attacked by a rival ship, then they capture it and she steps into command on the way back to MX Hub. they can sell it to sigfreid or the other captain. at a discount or something. Could also tie that in with the previously mention, terra misson. oh, also, the dragon pilot...since it's been made clear that remote links can be made with a mech. why hasn't it been brought up that a remote link to control a mech from a shipboard capsule?
ReplyDeleteother than those, i enjoyed the series very much. well done with the voice actors, the plot, storyline, and characters. it's almost disappointing that the captain doesn't have to cool down anymore around money, because of what would've happened with the power armor. that always made me laugh when she had to literally blow off steam. Overall, i really enjoyed the book.

What is happening is the snowball effect of what has come before so things are going to speed up as the tech and tactics are adopted to the point where things happen quickly.
