Quick update July 2018

A small update for you all,

Kindle Unlimited is being volatile again. As such I'm going to be pulling my books from the program. This is hard for me as I've always been a supporter of it, but I can't risk them suspending or terminating my account. If they did I wouldn't be able to put my books onto Amazon at all.

I'm deeply sorry to those of you that have used KU to read my books, but I hope you understand. As a fulltime writer now, if I can't sell to Amazon who owns 70%+ of market share then I'm not able to be a writer.

At the moment it is just the automatic renewal that is unclicked, but I have contacted KDP and asked for the books to be removed early. I'm currently waiting on their reply.

Thank you all for your support, and again if you've only been reading my books through KU, I'm deeply sorry for taking this step.

Regards,
Daniel Schinhofen

  1. Glad to know you have dodged the problems.
Honestly I have just purchased your books since LH:L anyway, but it would be nasty to have you go away from full time writing.

  2. Just curious what is going on since you dont seem to be the only one that retracted their books

    1. Amazon uses an automated system to detect when people use bots to go through their books to boost their pages read, this system does not use human oversite to check before punishing.

  3. Sorry to hear this but completely understand - I've been following what's happened to MSE and would hate to see it happen to you too. I'll be buying most or all of your books but I'm already a fan. KU was a great tool for authors to be discovered by a wider audience. As authors leave the program I am just not going to be able to buy all of those books that I would have otherwise tried through KU...
