Looks like we got to a new month. I'd start with something to commemorate the day of fools, but let's be honest we all deal with enough fools every day that not having one thrust at you is probably better.
Okay let's start with the big news. AG3: Magi's Path came out last month. The 2nd school year for Gregory started with his new wife Yukiko. It was a monster of a book, my longest book published to date. It's been well received, minus the people who obviously don't know my writing style who hate it. If you've left a review thank you, if you haven't yet, please consider it. Here is the link for you: Amazon.com: Magi's Path (Aether's Revival Book 3) eBook: Schinhofen, Daniel: Kindle Store
Other big news I've been working on my dungeon story. Patreon has had a good number of chapters for it already. It's not a dungeon core story, I mean i could have done that, but meh. Dungeon cores always seem to have a core adventuring group that you see over and over. I decided to focus mine on a person who delves into dungeons. Dungeon Walker, is the story of Stern, a Walker who wants to delve into all of the dungeons. Here is patreon link, where you can read the 1st chapter for free. Let's see what else...no new news on audio, be patient guys it'll be coming. I guess the only news for audio will be the fact I'll be using a different person for Dungeon Walker. Andie is booked solid, and has already informed me she can't take on a new series at this time. Sucks for me, as I want her to voice all of my books, but alas. So I'm currently looking at my options for audio of the new series. Since it's not Andie, I'm likely going to hand it off to a publisher. I'm talking to a couple of them currently. News will follow in the future.
Hmm, is that everything? I think it is. After I finish with Dungeon Walker 1, I'll be moving onto Luck's Voice 3, and then onto Binding Words 7, and Aether's Revival 4 in that order. I'm hoping that in the summer I'll be able to make my research trip so I can get to AG8, but that is still up in the air. Dragoncon, if it happens will see me there, but again that is currently up in the air.
Okay folks that's all I will be back next month with more news. Thanks for taking the time to read though this.
Daniel Schinhofen
I love your books.
ReplyDeleteReally enjoying aethers revival and binding words, they are written very well.
ReplyDeleteJust Wondering would you consider putting alpher world & apocalypse gates available on paperback also??
I would love to add em to the collection on the shelf.
P. S. Keep up the amazing work.
I hope to have them all available in time, but I am looking to have another editing pass done on them first.
DeleteReally happy to hear that, and thank you for the reply.
DeleteYou're writing is awesome.
Would Tess be an option for the Dungeon Walker audiobooks? I think she does an awesome job with AG. Plus I second getting AG and AW into physical form. Hard Cover is my preferred format, but understand that is not currently an option for Amazon.
ReplyDeletePhysical are only paperback at the moment.
DeleteI like Tess Irondale as a narrator almost as much as Andie. I didn't think I would when she took over AG. I just reread AR3 and love it more every tine I read it! Keep up the great work and we'll keep reading and enjoying it!
ReplyDeletegiven the shifts around AG8 in the schedule due to research, what does the current release schedule look like? which month can we expect each book in? (sry about earlier deleted comment, I misspelled so many things)
ReplyDeleteThe schedule is kind of in flux, so I can only say my current plan is Dungeon Walkers 1 near the end of April. I'll update more next month, but I am currently working on Luck's Voice 3.
DeleteThanks for all your hardwork. looking forward to the new series enjoy your month :)
ReplyDeleteI love Luck's Voice, Binding Words and Aether's Guard are my current favorites. I look forward to seeing where they go.
ReplyDeleteTess Irondale or Stephanie Savannah I think would be great options. But Tess might also be booked up too.
ReplyDeleteOo and Amber Lee Conners might be good too.
DeleteSo I was disappointed with Magi's Path, the majority of it felt aimless. I loved the first one, second was good but this last left me wanting so I really took the time to figure out why. You are great at Character driven stories. But after the first couple of books many of your series start to lose steam and I think its because after a while the story begins to go no where and flounder or for many it seems that way. AG does this, BW has moments and now AR.
ReplyDeleteTo fix this I would suggest either keeping the book series short or shift to a plot driven story by book 3.
What I think made AW go the distance was you had all the characters continuously evolve throughout the entire series. Each book showed a new facet and complexity to each of the characters. So it allowed the character driven story to continue to draw the reader to the end.
Hope these observations help, I know less than positive reviews are self esteem smashing and I truly don't want that. I love your work and look forward to more.
So change my writing style? I thank you for the ideas but I'm going to continue on with how I've been writing. Yes things might be slow, but that's because it's about following a person's journey and not how they all have to go kill a dark lord.
DeleteFunnily enough both Binding Words and Aether's have been better received overall then Alpha World.
You make points and don't bash the stories is makes it feedback and not criticism, which I appreciate. Feedback is always welcome. I hope you continue to enjoy the stories but understand if you decide to put them down since there isn't a rush to follow a plot point.
I don't mean change your writing style, and if you felt attacked my apologies as that was not my intention. I was merely providing observation because I understand where some of the negative critiques were coming from. I enjoy your books and and your slice of life style because it is unique. Yes it is not for everyone and that is okay. I am an avid fan and intend on reading more of your work I just did not enjoy Magi's Path as much for similar reasons and as a fan wanted to let you know as opposed to others who are just negative or mean and unhelpful.
DeleteJust finished dungeon walker even before I got to the last 5 pages I loved it. I am a big fan of the dungeon core books and those like it. Yours is a fresh new take on it. When I read those last 5 pages ( no spoilers) I laughed cried and shouted for joy. I have to say every one of your books hits a different aspect of the type of books that I like to read. Please keep writing and I will for sure keep buying. Side note the only type of books I love you are missing is something with a talking familiar. Pawley may get there later but if you are looking at new ideas that’s always a great one.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Holly. I have specific things planned out foe the series, in the way of perks, and can't wait for you to see them.
DeleteActors everywhere is a good troupe of voice actors. They also do dual narration, which I think would work well in any romance series.
ReplyDeleteWell I just finished Dungeon Walker but yeah... pretty much everything Holly said above applies to me, down to the reaction at those last pages.
ReplyDeleteI am now eagerly awaiting for DW2, thanks as always Mr. Schinhofen!
P.S. I still want demigod babies for BW7.
Was wondering if you know which book will be available for paperback next?
ReplyDelete&
Dungeon walker was really a great read!
Keep up the awesome work. 👍🏻
Depends on audio. I put out paperbacks after audio is done. The older books need a touch up before i put them out in paper.
DeleteI see what you're doing with DW! I don't care if it's a conspiracy theory or not but it's AWESOME!! Those last few pages!!!
